Import views

Choose the warehouse views people can ask about. Tables are never imported.

exelens answers from views you import, not from raw tables. That is deliberate: the view is where your grain, joins and business names live. Tables and stored procedures never appear in the import tree.

Only warehouse views are listed. Tick the ones people may ask about. Tables and stored procedures never appear.
  1. 1

    Open the warehouse card

In Data, find the connection (the vendor logo is on the left). Click Import views. You can also import from Build → Library → +.

  2. 2

Pick a schema, then tick views

Expand a schema. Tick views one by one. Only views are listed. If a table is missing, create a view over it in the warehouse and grant SELECT on the view.

  3. 3

    Import and check

exelens stores the name, columns, types and comments, then runs a small read. Green means healthy. Yellow means usable with a warning. Red means the read failed — usually permissions or a broken definition.

  4. 4

    Describe and protect columns

Expand a view on the warehouse card. Add a description and a time column if the view is dated. Set emails, names and IDs to Masked or Hidden. Hidden columns are never read. Masked columns are hashed before anyone or any model sees them.
