Connect a warehouse
Give exelens a read-only identity. Test the connection before you save it.
10 min read
Data is the page for warehouses. exelens is multi-platform: Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, Synapse, Fabric and Postgres can live side by side. Each connection is a read-only identity you create in that warehouse.
- 1
Open Data
In the top bar, click Data. Click Connect.
- 2
Pick the vendor
Click the logo, not just the name — Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery and the others are listed together so a workspace can mix platforms.
- 3
Run the setup script
Open Show read-only setup script. Run it as an administrator in the warehouse. It creates a role or user that can
SELECTviews, never tables, with a statement timeout. - 4
Allowlist our IPs
If the warehouse restricts network access, allow the addresses shown on Data under Network allowlist. All exelens reads come from them.
- 5
Fill the fields and test
Account, project, host, role — whatever that vendor needs. Press Test connection. We check that we can reach it and warn you if the identity can write. Only then can you save.
- 6
Name and save
Give the connection a name people will recognise (“Analytics prod”, “Lakehouse EU”). Status should move to Healthy after the first check.

After it is connected
On the warehouse card you can Import views, Check health, Resync view definitions, Pause (stops new reads) or Remove. Removing a connection deletes its views; graphs built on them stop refreshing. Credentials are deleted with it.
